Laos honours Vietnamese guard high command

The National Guard High Command under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam on Feb. 23 has been awarded the First-class Medal of Freedom, one of the highest honours of Laos .

On behalfof the Lao government, Lao Minister of Public Security ThoongbanSengaphon handed over the award to the high command on Feb. 23 inHanoi .

The award aims to honour the highcommand’s remarkable achievements in cooperating with Laos ’ NationalGuard Force, which contributed to deepening the solidarity and closefriendship between the two countries’ public security forces.

Vietnam and Laos have enjoyed effective cooperation inmilitary training and sharing experience to ensure security duringvisits of the two countries’ leaders.

At the awardceremony, representatives of the two sides pledged to strengthencooperation in guard activities in order to further promote thefriendship and solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples.-VNA

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.

The New Year meeting, which was first held in 2016, and the Joint Working Committee’s meeting, initiated from 2008, have proved efficiency, leading to significant common understandings regarding exchanges and cooperation among the parties.
