Lao Deputy Premier cum Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith paid an official visit to Indonesia and participated in the third session of the Joint Cooperation Committee between Laos and Indonesia from January 17-18.
During the two-day visit, the Lao Deputy Premier and Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa discussed projects that were signed between the two nations in 2007, especially trade and investment projects.
The two sides agreed to cooperate closely in realising these projects and strengthen cooperation relations in trade and investment.
On the occasion, Thongloun Sisoulith thanked the Indonesian government for its support to Laos to develop its human resources and sport sectors, and also insisted that Laos will advocate for Indonesia holding the position of Chairman of ASEAN in 2011.
On behalf of the Lao government, Thongloun Sisoulith handed over 100,000 USD to Indonesian families that were victims of natural calamities in Indonesia last year./.
