Laos, Japan agree to cooperate on many areas

In a meeting in Vientiane , Minister Okada and Prime MinisterBouasone Bouphavanh agreed to cooperate on measures to curb globalwarming and efforts to reform the United Nations.

Minister Okadaassured the Lao PM that Japan will continue to provide support toLaos in addressing poverty and proceeding with economic development.

PMBouasone Bouphavanh reiterated his country's support for Japan 'sbid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

In aseparate meeting, Okada and Laotian President Choummaly Sayasoneaffirmed the two governments will make preparations to promote Japaneseprivate investment in Laos./.
