The party and state of Laos highly value developments in wide-ranging cooperation with Vietnam over the last year, a senior Lao State official has said.

“The Vietnamese Party, State and people have provided Laos with prompt and effective assistance,” Vice State President Bounnhang Volachith said at his meeting with a delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Organisational Commission in Vientiane on Dec. 25.

He cited the building of many schools in Laos ’ capital city of Vientiane and other localities with the Vietnamese Government’s non-refundable aid and increases in the number of Lao students who receive Vietnamese scholarships.

The Lao official, who is also a member of the Political Bureau and permanent secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), also referred to Vietnam’s great contributions to the success of the freshly-concluded 25 th SEA Games in Laos.

“The LPRP, the State and people of Laos are always fully aware of preserving and continuously fostering the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation with the Vietnamese Party, State and people, for the interests of each country as well as for peace, stability, and cooperation for development in the region and the world at large,” Volachith said.

He said he hoped the Organisational Commissions of the CPV and the LPRP would continue to work and help each other in the personnel training, and share experiences drawn from the Party building work and from preparations for the organization of the national Party Congress of each country in early 2011.

Nguyen Duc Hat, a CPVCC member and Deputy Head of the CPVCC’s Organisational Commission, who led the delegation, affirmed his commission’s commitments to working closely with the LPRP Central Committee’s Organisational Commission.

He briefed his host of the purpose as well as the results of the Vietnamese delegation’s working visit to Laos , from Dec. 21 to Dec. 26./.
