Laos has inaugurated a general consulate in Guangzhou, its fifth in China, in order to promote diplomatic ties and multifaceted links with China, according to the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The new general consulate is expected to serve as a bridge to bolster bilateral relations in politics, economics, trade, investment, education, culture and tourism between Laos and China’s four southeast provinces, said the ministry.

Laos’s four other general consulates are located in Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi and Hainan.-VNA
