Laos ’ Vice State President Bounnhang Volachit presented the NationalGold Order, the highest distinction of his country, to the capital cityof Hanoi in a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 9.
“The distinction presented to Hanoi on the city’s millennium anniversaryindicates the Lao Party, State and people’s gratitude and sincerethanks to the Vietnamese Party, State and people in general and thecapital city of Hanoi in particular for their immense contributions toLaos’ revolutionary cause,” the Lao leader said.
Chairman of theHanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao said the National Gold Order isthe noble award and a great source of encouragement that the Party,State and people of Laos have given to Hanoi and it reflects thetraditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperationbetween the two countries.
Thao affirmed that the Vietnam-Laosfriendship and solidarity fostered by the late Presidents Ho Chi Minhand Kaysone Phomvihane and various generations of the two countries havea wonderful vitality and have been growing unceasingly to reach a newheight.
The same day, Bounnhang Volachit, who led a delegation ofLao Party and State to Hanoi ’s 1,000 th founding anniversary, wasreceived by State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
Later, the Laoguests were feted by Truong Tan Sang, a politburo member and standingmember of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam CentralCommittee./.
