As many as 180 Vietnamese and Lao businesses are displaying their products at 270 pavilions at the Laos - Vietnam Trade Fair 2011 that opened in Vientiane on Dec. 1.
The event is being jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
As part of the event, a trade seminar was also held, offering businesses a chance to seek partnerships and sign contracts, raising export and import revenue as well as increasing understanding and solidarity between the two peoples.
In recent years, two-way trade has grown strongly, with an average annual rise of 24 percent from 2005 to 2010. In the first ten months of this year, it increased by 51 percent, reaching 581 million USD.
In addition to iron, steel, petroleum, vehicles, spare parts, timber furniture and garment products, the diverse range of commodities traded between the two countries includes vegetables and farm produce./.
