The new Gia Nghia Church, the largest place of worship in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong, was inaugurated on May 9 in Nghia Duc ward, Gia Nghia township.
Designed to look like a Central Highlands Rong house, the church covers an area of more than 10,000 square metres in the centre of Gia Nghia commune, and cost nearly 10 billion VND, which was donated by followers.
For 25 years, thousands of followers in Gia Nghia commune and neighbouring areas frequented the old church where the new one now stands.
The original church was built with iron sheets and planks, and was hard to access during the rainy season. Therefore, in 2007 the Dak Nong provincial People’s Committee licensed Gia Nghia parish to re-build it.-VNA
