Thousands of children and people in the central province of Binh Thuan gathered at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Phan Thiet city on September 17 night to attend a mid-autumn lantern parade.

The parade has been recognised as the largest of its kind in Vietnam by the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietbooks) and the most special and successful cultural festival of the country’s tourism sector by the Guide Awards.

Nearly 3,000 children from 30 schools in the city brought to the event wax lanterns which are inspired by fairy tales or such images as the water tower in Phan Thiet and Truong Sa border marker.

In the bustling drum beats, 30 large lanterns and thousands of small ones marched past Phan Thiet streets, making the city sparkling with myriad colours.

The event created a healthy playground for children in the occasion of the mid-autumn festival. It is one of the five traditional festivals in Binh Thuan province aimed at promoting the local tourism sector.-VNA
