A Vietnamese National Assembly delegation led by Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu visited Azerbaijan Republic from June 26-28, in an effort to boost cooperation between the two legislative bodies and consolidate the two countries’ traditional relations.
During his stay in Azerbaijan, Vice Chairman Luu held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart, paid courtesy visits to the Chairperson of the National Assembly, and met the Foreign Minister, among others.
The delegation also visited the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and the Baku State University and met with the Vietnamese community living in Baku.
At the talks and meetings, the Azerbaijani side affirmed that the two countries have a traditional and close relationship and hold a lot of development potential, especially in oil and gas, and education and training.
The Azerbaijani leaders expressed their belief that Vietnam will further develop and make active contributions to the establishment of the ASEAN Community by 2015.
Vice Chairman Luu expressed thanks to Azerbaijan for its support during Vietnam’s national construction and defence, as well as its help in training intellectuals and skilled workers for Vietnam.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies through all-level delegation exchanges and their close coordination at international forums that they are members.-VNA
