The number of libraries nationwide has reached 40,000. This is a huge number, yet the effectiveness of the libraries is in question. Promoting reading culture and attracting more readers are areas libraries are struggling in.
In the past, people would come to library to borrow books to study or read for pleasure as there were few other forms of entertainment. Today, libraries have to find new ways to attract more readers due to a lack of interest among people.
Experts said, libraries should consider working with business to provide further technology training for employees to keep them up-to-date.
They also said, digitalization in libraries is a crucial step for development of the sector.-VNA
