Deputy chief of Indonesia's transport safety committee Haryo Satmiko said on January 14 that information about its location remains unavailable.
The Indonesian budget carrier’s flight JT610 crashed into Java waters several minutes after take off from Jakarta on October 29.
On November 1, a search and rescue team found the flight’s data recorder.
The plane is believed to have crashed into the sea from the height of over 1,000m and at a speed of about 640km per hour.
Lion Air spent 2.6 million USD to seek the second black box, including hiring the Netherlands’ MPV Everest vessel. The bodies of 64 victims remain unaccounted for.
The ill-fated Boeing 737-MAX 8 is the latest and most modern among commercial passenger aircraft. The final conclusion about the cause of the accident is still unavailable.
The Indonesian Government requested the inspection of all Boeing 737-MAX 8 which are currently being used.
The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation suspended several of the carrier’s leaders and technicians for investigation. –VNA
