An international annual workshop on the prospect of Vietnam farm produce in 2010 is likely to spotlight animal husbandry and coffee growing.

Also high on the agenda of the meeting, scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on May 12, are macro-economic development in the world and Vietnam, prospect of the global and Vietnam agriculture, opportunities for farm produce exporters in accessing European markets and updates of latest regulations on global market integration.

The Head of the Institute for Policies and Strategies on Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), Dr. Dang Kim Son, said Vietnam , like other countries in the world, has been for years facing numerous difficulties and challenges due to global climate change, epidemics and global financial crisis.

This has made a considerable impact on agriculture and the entire economy of Vietnam of which agriculture, forestry and seafood play a key role, said the senior researcher.

The meeting will be jointly held by the IPSARD under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the Spanish International Cooperation and Development Agency.

Senior domestic and international law makers and experts in economics and agriculture will be provided with key information and forecast on production and trading useful in working out appropriate solutions as well as supportive policies and development strategies, Son concluded./.
