Land, judicial and financial officials from cities and provinces in the central and Central Highlands regions were updated on the revised Land Law, at a conference held in the central province of Binh Dinh on December 20.

The revised Land Law, which was passed at a recent National Assembly session, has 14 chapters and 212 articles, and contains some important new contents, including detailed stipulations on the persons responsible to the State on land use, and the ban on using land or conducting land transactions without registering with the competent agencies. The law also extends the agricultural land use term of families and individuals to 50 years from the previous 20 years.

Participants gave their opinions on draft decrees guiding the implementation of the Land Law (revised), with many suggesting increasing fines for administrative violations in land management and use.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Manh Hien stressed that close collaboration among ministries, sectors and local administrations is required for the effective enforcement of the law, ensuring the interest of the people.-VNA
