Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese military officers and partners from northern Laos have reiterated their solidarity and close-knit relations when meeting to review connections between local military units.

The officers, from the High Command of Military Region 2 under the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the Military Command of northern Lao province, gathered in Vietnam’s northern province of Phu Tho on July 6 to examine bilateral cooperation in 2015 and the first half of this year.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the VPA General Staff and Colonel Phimmachan Vongpannha – Lao Defence Attaché to Vietnam were present at the event.

The Vietnamese and Lao units have forged their solid bonds and maintained regular information exchanges over the past time to ensure political security and prevent cross-border crime in the respective countries.

Particularly, the Military Region 2 has provided technical and financial support for Lao partners to build military and civil medical infrastructure, contributing to socio-economic development and reinforcement of defence and security between the two nations, heard the conference.-VNA
