During his meeting with thelocality’s key leaders on November 29, the Minister urged the localityto prepare forces and means to respond to the typhoon.
Heunderlined the need to ban local fishermen from going fishing andcalling on fishing-vessels to anchor in safety, saying that thecoastal locality must ensure the safety of local people, especiallythose living in flood and landslide-prone areas as well as dykes,irrigational works.
On the same day, the Steering Committee forDisaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the southern centralprovince of Khanh Hoa also held an emergency meeting to carry outmeasures to cope with the storm, the fourth in the East Sea so farthis year.
Accordingly, farmers have to leave from theiraquaculture areas at sea to move to land, while sea-tours will not beorganised on November 29-30. Forces stand ready for evacuation, rescueand search works.
At the same time, leaders of the southerncentral province of Phu Yen made tours to supervise the implementationof measures for deal with the typhoon.
The provincial People’sCommittee required coastal localities made inspection tours tolocalities, while to coordinating with border guard forces to update theposition and movement of the storm to ships operating at sea, andinstruct them to seek shelter.
According to the NationalCentre for Hydrometereological Forecasting, at 8:00 am on November 29,the typhoon Sinlaku was about 240km from Phu Yen and Khanh Hoaprovinces’ coasts, packing winds of 75-88 km per hour.
Within 12 hours, the storm is forecast to move west-northwest with winds between 75-88 km per hour.
Inthe next 12-24 hours, Sinlaku is forecast to move between west andnorthwest directions with no change in its speed and weaken into atropical low pressure.
It will bring heavy rains to southern central provinces from Da Nang to Binh Thuan and the Central Highlands region.-VNA
