Central highlands and southern provinces have conducted meetings with local ethnic minorities, religious dignitaries and intellectuals on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

On January 24, the Steering Committee for the Central Highlands region presented Tet gifts to ethnic people in Ea Nam commune, Ea H’Leo district, the regional province of Dak Lak.

The committee has provided more than 10 billion VND (476,200 USD) donated by social organisations and businesses for Central Highlands provinces and neighbouring localities to help social welfare beneficiaries and ethnic people prepare for Tet, the country’s largest holiday.

The same day, the Fatherland Front Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long hosted a get-together with over 50 dignitaries from 16 religious organisations, the Committee for Catholic Solidarity and the Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association.

Provincial officials praised contributions by the organisations to the implementation of social welfare policies and local development, asking the dignitaries to continue leading followers to have good secular and religious lives.

In return, the representatives expressed their acknowledgement to local authorities for facilitating religious organisations’ operation, pledging that practical assistance will be given to disadvantaged people to help them enjoy a happy Tet holiday.

In Ninh Thuan province, the Fatherland Front Committee met with local religious dignitaries and intellectuals.

The dignitaries promised that they will tell followers to well abide by the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s law, along with actively engaging in reducing poverty, ensuring security and order, and building new-style rural areas.

Meanwhile, a pre-Tet get-together was held in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang with over 120 exemplary journalists and artists.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Huynh Minh Chac praised the circle for popularising images of local land and people and farm produce far and wide to help with local growth.-VNA
