Capital city Hanoi and elsewhere throughout the country are warmly responding to Vietnam ’s first-ever Book Day (April 21) with displays of books covering various topics.

The day is meant to honour the value of books and cultivate a lasting culture of reading.

In Hanoi on April 18, the National Assembly Office library in coordination with several publishing houses introduced hundreds of books featuring politics, legal system and institutional reform to the public.

The same day in the northern province of Hai Duong, an exhibition was started showing precious collections, such as Dien Bien Phu victory and its memories, cultural celebrities, and national history, among others.

During the four-day show, the local library is also offering books to 500 first visitors as gifts.
In the southern province of Binh Phuoc , a festival with the theme of children with reading culture is well underway from April 18-20.
