A leading official has called for the use of environmentally-friendly products to ease environmental pollution at a meeting in the capital city on June 5 to mark World Environment Day.
Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi City People’s Committee Vu Hong Khanh urged individuals, organisations and businesses at home and abroad to engage in activities like go cycling each Saturday and Sunday, cleaning markets, growing and selling organic vegetables and green products, thus raising public awareness of environmental protection.
Concluding the meeting, delegates toured stalls offering organic vegetables and recycled products.
Numerous students and youngsters also registered to cycle along the city’s thoroughfares.
Meanwhile, the Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee launched a walking movement and opened a market of recycled products in response to the event.
Themed “Think - Eat – Save and Do something for a green and better world”, this year’s World Environment Day encourages the people to minimise impacts on the environment, ranging from production to consumption.-VNA
