Phnom Penh (VNA) – A delegation from the Mekong Delta province of Long An gave out 300 gifts for needy people, both overseas Vietnamese and Cambodians, in Cambodia’s capital city of Phnom Penh on December 3.

Each present was worth approximately 400,000 VND (18 USD).

On the occasion, Vice Chairwoman of Long An People’s Committee Tran Thi Nhanh took note of the overseas Vietnamese community’s request for help to their children and teachers of a Vietnamese language school in Svay Rieng province.

She affirmed that Long An is ready to assist the education of overseas Vietnamese children in Cambodia in a bid to help elevate the community’s position here.

In recent years, Long An’s authorities have provided scholarships and free medical treatment to both the OV community in Cambodia and needy Cambodians.-VNA
