M&A Vietnam Forum to be held next month

The 10th M&A Vietnam Forum 2018 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on August 8 to analyse and assess merger and acquisition (M&A) opportunities and trends in Vietnam in the new era.

– The 10th M&A Vietnam Forum 2018 will take place inHo Chi Minh City on August 8 to analyse and assess merger and acquisition(M&A) opportunities and trends in Vietnam in the new era.

Theannual event is co-organised by the Vietnam Investment Review and AVM VietnamCompany.

Speakingat a press conference on July 24, Deputy Minister of Planning and InvestmentNguyen The Phuong said that this year’s forum takes place in the context of athriving Vietnamese economy with a stable macro-economy and GDP growth hitting7.08 percent in the first six months of 2018, the highest in the past 10 years.

TheVietnamese M&A market is currently faced with both new opportunities tomake a name for itself in the new era, as well as challenges that need to beaddressed soon in order to further develop M&A activities, Phuong added.

TheM&A market in Vietnam has gone through an eventful decade with nearly 4,000deals valued at 48.8 billion USD signed. The market scale in 2017 expandednine-fold from that of 2008.

In2017 alone, the total value of M&A deals reached 10.2 billion USD, thehighest-ever figure.

M&Adeals are expected to be valued at 6.5 billion USD this year, equivalent to63.7 percent of last year’s figure.

Thehighlight of this year’s forum is an in-depth conference about M&Aactivities in Vietnam, titled “New Surge, New Era”.

A galadinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary and honour the most outstandingM&A deals and advisory firms of 2017-2018, as well as a master class onM&A strategy to create a breakthrough in growth, will be organised withinthe framework of the forum.

Onthis occasion, the Vietnam M&A Outlook 2018 Special Publication will alsobe published, providing quality coverage of the year’s global and domestictrends, as well as the most notable deals.-VNA
