An 80 million USD project was launched in the central province of Binh Dinh to improve community healthcare services throughout the southern central coastal region.

A majority of the funding for the five-year project, 72 million USD, is sourced from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The project will benefit local people in the region’s eight provinces and cities, namely Da Nang , Quang Nam , Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan.

It will build and upgrade 26 medical establishments, including a provincial-level hospital of traditional medicine, two medical hospitals and five other preventive medicine centres at the district-level, as well as a medical school.

The project will provide equipment for new hospitals, and train personnel to operate it, along with upgrading drainage systems at the targeted establishments.

As part of the project, these localities will also be assisted in developing human resources for the health sector and improving the management of provincial healthcare services./.
