‘Make in Vietnam' to help Vietnam prosper

Hanoi  (VNA) - A national forum on developing Vietnam technology companies, the first of its kind, opened in Hanoi on May 9.

Themed “Aspiration, vision, and strategy for a prosperous Vietnam”, together with action motto “Make in Vietnam”, the event aimed at creating a driving force to boost an ecology for Vietnamese technology companies with a hope of turning the country into a strong nation in technology, early to realise the goal to make Vietnam become a developing industrial country.

The event saw the attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and more than 1,000 delegates, including representatives of committees, sectors, ministries and localities, business associations both home and aboard, international organisations, especially hundreds of domestic and foreign prestigious experts, technological enterprises as well as start-ups in technological area in Vietnam.

“Rich land” for technological development

Speaking at the event, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said the digital revolution, especially the new development of the fourth industrial revolution has opened up new opportunities for Vietnam. Technology can solve difficult issues effectively.

Vietnam is also a cradle for Vietnamese technological businesses to develop, expand to the world and solve global matters. Using modern technology while developing new ones and creating solution and products hope to change Vietnam and the world. From that base, Vietnam can become a strong nation.  

The Minister also highlighted, this is the first time a national forum has been held to announce an important strategy which will affect the future of the country, it’s the strategy for developing Vietnamese technological businesses.

Hung stressed “Make in Vietnam is our announcement. The products are labeled as Vietnamese products, made in Vietnam, designed in Vietnam, manufactured in Vietnam and warrantied in Vietnam. If we only assemble, we will not solve the issue of productivity and escape from the middle-income trap. It is also our responsibility as a global national and global citizen. Vietnam has also to contribute to the human kind and the human kind’s technological development”.

According to the Minister, “Make in Vietnam” not only helps Vietnam prosper but also helps the country to have a long lasting peace while contributing to the development of a strong national defense industry. Nowadays, technology is the first priority to every enterprise, ranging from manufacturing to services. Technological development among enterprises must be the first priority.

If Vietnam wants to have technological enterprises, it should create market for it, and market is the most important thing.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized, in 2019, Vietnam will announce a national digital transformation strategy, aiming at a digital economy and digital society.

The minister said “speaking about technology is speaking about talented people. Vietnamese people are smart, we can adapt to changes quickly”.

“Attracting” global talents

The leader of the Ministry of Information and Communication also called for overseas Vietnamese to return home and contribute to developing the country.

The minister said” there are many overseas Vietnamese. It’s time to return home or connect to Vietnam to build technological enterprises of Vietnamese. We will create favourable conditions to attract talented people globally. They will be allowed to try new technology, new business model. Special technological zones, special creative and innovative zones for enterprises in the field will also be considered.”

The minister shared, the forum will listen and receive initiates to help Vietnam attract talents. Some big Vietnamese enterprises in the areas of services, trade, real estate, among other, have gained success in market scale, financial resources.

It is not only an incitement, it is also responsibility for the country, the future of these enterprises. Some service providers of Vietnam have announced new strategy of a technological, industrial, trade and service group such as Viettel, VinGroup and VNPT, among others./.
