The Hanoi People’s Procuracy on December 17 issued an indictment on its prosecution of Cu Huy Ha Vu on charges of “disseminating information against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam” as prescribed in point c, clause 1, Article 88 of the Penal Code.

According to the procuracy’s indictment No. 18/CT-VKS-P2, in October 2010, the Hanoi Municipal Department for Information and Communication sent an official dispatch to the municipal police asking them to illuminate a case relating to a number of interviews of Cu Huy Ha Vu.

These interviews, which were posted on the Internet, had contained information against the State, calling for abolishing Article 4 of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and distorting the truth about the Vietnamese people’s resistance war.

Investigators found that between 2009 and October, 2010, Cu Huy Ha Vu posted a large number of articles and interviews with contents against the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on the Internet.

These articles and interviews maligned Party and State guidelines and policies, defamed the administration and State institutions, and blackened the Vietnamese people’s resistance war, according to investigators.

The procedural agencies took Cu Huy Ha Vu’s violations seriously and held him responsible for these acts./.
