Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) have arrested 82 gangsters in a nationwide crackdown on organised crime that began in late March.

The RMP on April 10 said the arrestees include a Datuk Seri and a Datuk, noble titles of Malaysia, and three policemen.

Along with the arrests, police also seized weapons, cash, jewellery, property, vehicles and other valuable assets.

The campaign was carried out after Kuala Lumpur and Selangor police secretly gathered intelligence on organised crimes.

It was supported by Special Taskforce on Organised Crime, Special Task Force for Anti-Vice, Gambling and Gangsterism and the Anti-Money Laundering Act team. -VNA
