A Malaysia Airlines flight en route from Kuala Lumpur to Seoul in the Republic of Korea (RoK) had to change its course to China’s Hong Kong on March 24 due to an electrical incident, according to news reports.

The state-owned company said in a statement that Flight MH066 carrying 271 passengers left Kuala Lumpur at 11:37 pm and was due to arrive at Incheon airport in Seoul at 6:50 am local time.

However, the plane was diverted to Hong Kong as the aircraft generator became inoperative . Electrical power continued to be supplied by the Auxiliary Power Unit, the company said.

The plane landed safely in Hong Kong at 3 am. All passengers were transferred onto other carriers, it added.

Malaysia Airlines is in the international spotlight following the disappearance of its Beijing-bound Flight MH370 on March 8. The multinational search for the missing jetliner has entered the third week with no traces of the plane found.-VNA
