Malaysia: Flood forces tens of thousands to evacuate

A high tide and rough seas have worsened floods in Malaysia, forcing tens of thousands of people in Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan states to evacuate to relief centres.

Pahang is the worst hit with 38,000 people relocated.

Almost all water and electricity supply sources in Kuantan city areinterrupted since some transformer stations and many roads are submergedunder one metre of water.

As of December 4, one person is reported to have died in the floods, with two others missing.

The country’s Meteorological Department said it will take several daysfor floods to recede as the tide is at its peak of 4.5 metres.-VNA
