Malaysia and India have agreed on an extradition treaty during a visit to India by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The landmark document, signed on January 20 by Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and his Indian counterpart S.M Krishnan, will help to combat increasing cross-border crime, according to Malaysia ’s Bernama news agency.

Both governments signed a draft treaty in 2002 and since then officials have been fine-tuning the document during annual meetings of a joint committee between both countries.

During the Malaysian PM’s visit to India , the two countries countries signed a memorandum of understanding on higher education and the Malaysian-Indian Capital Market Collaborative Agreement, between Malaysia 's Securities Commission and Securities and Exchange Board of India./.
