Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Personal data of about 46.2 million mobile phone numbers in Malaysia could be in danger upon the information about the largest data leak so far in the country.
The leak was revealed by the news website lowyat.net early of this month and it was reported to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
According to Vijandren Ramadass, founder of the website, the leak included personal data of nearly the whole Malaysia’s population such as customer addresses, identification numbers and sim card details.
More than 32 million people in the country could be vulnerable to cyber attacks aiming to gather personal information illegally.
Vijandren said that mobile operators in Malaysia should affirm the incident and inform their customers to carry out necessary countermeasures.
The incident is under investigation.-VNA
