Malaysia is expected to earn 27 billion USD from exports to the US this year, up 3.8 percent from 2012, while its imports will be worth 13 billion USD.

The US Department of Commerce reported that the US’s trade in goods with Malaysia hit 33.68 billion USD for the January-October period, up 3.9 percent from last year.

Of the figure, the US spent 22.74 billion USD on imports from the Asian country, a year-on-year rise of 4.6 percent, while its exports rose by 2.6 percent to 9.8 billion USD.

Malaysian Trade Commissioner in New York Muhd Shahrulmiza Zakaria said he is pleased with the ongoing economic recovery in the US, saying that it will help two-way trade.

He said he believes bilateral trade will reach at least 40 billion USD this year, equivalent to the figure seen in 2011, a peak trading year.-VNA
