Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and Saudi Arabia will look into establishing a centre to counter terrorist ideology.

Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin, who is on a working trip to Saudi Arabia, discussed forming the centre with his Saudi counterpart Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Salman Al Saud on November 14.

The centre will foster cooperation between the two countries in countering narratives and ideologies that underpin terrorism and extremism, said Minister Hussein.

The centre will also promote Islam as a religion of peace and moderation and rectify misconceptions of Islam, he added.

Both ministers stressed the need to promote Islam in a holistic way beyond political dimensions which lead to divisions in the Muslim community.-VNA
