Malaysia has so far spent 27.6 million RM (8.62 million USD) on search and logistics operations for missing Malaysia Airlines plane MH370, said a government official.

Addressing a press conference on June 9, Defence Minister and Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said that the cost was for food and fuel for Malaysian agencies involved in the search, including the Royal Air Force, the Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Royal Navy.

Malaysia Airlines’ flight MH370 disappeared on March 8 when carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. All search efforts have failed to find the ill-fated jetliner so far.

In another press briefing held the same day, Deputy Minister of Communication and Multimedia Jailani Johari said that Malaysia is coordinating closely with the Chinese and Australian sides in search activities.

The Liaison, Communication and Media Committee headed by Johari will continue updating information relating to the search.-VNA
