Malaysia, Thailand hold sea exercise

Malaysia and Thailand on May 18 started a join sea patrol exercise to help strengthen their security capacities against pirates, smuggling and human trafficking in the two countries’ sea waters.

The exercise dubbed “Seaex Thamal” was held with the participation of 263 staff members and eight ships from the navies and maritime authorities of the two countries.

The exercise aimed to promote the bilateral ties as well as strengthen information sharing between Malaysia and Thailand , said Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN)’s Naval Region 3, First Admiral Pahlawan Abdul Rahman Abdul Karim, at a press briefing held in a RMN base in Langkawi after the exercise started.

The exercise will end on May 22./.
