Malaysia said it would send manpower and equipment to help Indonesia fight spreading smog.

The statement was made after the 14th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur on October 10.

During the meeting, the Malaysian Foreign Ministry expressed its concern over periodic hazy conditions across the region and asked Indonesia to address the issue effectively.

Also at the meeting, which was co-chaired by Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi, the two sides discussed boundary demarcation, labour and trade.

They also discussed a number of issues related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the East Sea, the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and immigration into Southeast Asia.-VNA
