Hanoi (VNA) – The Malaysian Ministry of Health on August 3 announced that the first locally-transmitted Zika patient died of heart disease complications.

According to the ministry, the patient had already been in bad health condition due to problems related to heart and kidney diseases, high blood pressure and gout before taking medical examination on August 30 with high fever, muscle aches and diarrhea.

The man died on September 3 of heart-related complications. Malaysian health authorities said the cause of his death has been under comprehensive investigation.

Earlier on the same day, the 60-year-old man was declared the first locally transmited Zika case following the first Zika-infected patient - a 58-year-old women who returned from Singapore.-VNA
