Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak arrived in Jakarta on Dec. 18 night to attend the 10th annual Malaysia-Indonesia leaders' consultation with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Dec.19-20.
The agenda of the consultation will touches on discussions on the growth of cooperation in various aspects, including trade and investment, security, environment and people-to-people relations. The two leaders will also discuss the haze, border, and regional and international issues of common concern.
The Malaysia-Indonesia annual consultation in Jakarta now is the fourth between Najib and Susilo since 2010.
On this occasion, the two leaders will witness the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation to prevent and combat transnational crimes, student passes and visa for higher education, and youth and sports cooperation.
Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral ties have been very good in recent years. Malaysia is the seventh largest export country and the fourth largest import country for Indonesia.
In 2012, Malaysia-Indonesia bilateral trade recorded 19 billion USD. In the first ten months of this year, bilateral trade between the two countries was at 16.22 billion USD, up 2.8 percent from the 15.77 billion USD in 2012, according to Bernama.-VNA
