The tourism business in Thailand ’s southern province of Songkhla has been vigorous with a large number of Malaysian tourists crossing the border to the island over the weekend.

Most of them came by buses, vans, personal cars or choppers. The most popular place in this provincial resort was Samila beach where tourists posted and took pictures with the bronze mermaid statue or with high waves from the sea.

Songkhla has been a prime tourist attraction for Malaysians for decades. The city offers guests from the neighbouring country with a variety of activities including shopping, eating and sightseeing.

The political rally of an anti-government group at the province's city hall has sent no impacts to the tourism sector.-VNA/NNT
