- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak warned that violence may occur during a demonstration of the Bersih movement planned in Kuala Lumpur on November 19.

Bersih, for its supporters in yellow T-shirts, is a movement calling for election reform in Malaysia. However, the "Red Shirts" said Bersih serves a foreign group, aiming at throwing over the incumbent government. The Red-shirt group has vowed to confront yellow T-shirt protesters.

Prime Minister Najib told media on November 16 night after his visit to Japan that he doesn’t want any clash between the two groups, affirming that Malaysia will neither indulge any kind of physical clash nor accept it in the way of life in the country.

The same day, Minister of Federal Territories Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor reiterated that the Kuala Lumpur administration will not allow Bersih demonstration to take place at the Independence Square at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Malaysian police have warned that tear gas and water cannons could be used.-VNA
