Tokyo (VNA) – Prosecutors of Japan’s Chiba prefecture on May 26 decided to prosecute Yasumasa Shibuya, a suspect in the March killing of Le Thi Nhat Linh, a 9-year-old Vietnamese girl.

Shibuya, who was arrested on April 14, was prosecuted on charges of murdering and abandoning the body of the girl. Shibuya has reportedly remained silent since his arrest.

The prosecutors made the decision based on an ADN sample taken from the victim’s body that matched Shibuya and hair found in the suspect’s car matched the victim’s ADN.

The autopsy results suggested that Linh was likely murdered not long after she was kidnapped.

Le Thi Nhat Linh, a third-grader, disappeared shortly after leaving her home to walk to school on the morning of March 24. Her body was found two days later in Abiko, Chiba

Shibuya, who lives only 300 meters from the victim’s home, was once head of the parents' association of her school.-VNA
