The launch of the ASEAN Blue Economy Innovation Project to protect marine ecosystems, which are crucial for maintaining the bloc’s environment and economy, took place in Jakarta on May 14.
A host of activities are scheduled during the Vietnam Sea and Island Week, starting on June 1, to raise awareness and sense of responsibility among sectors, enterprises and people of the effective management, exploitation and use of natural resources and protection of marine environment.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is drawing up a master plan on the use of Vietnam’s sea until 2035 and an action plan for the 2017-2025 period.
Marine ecosystems play a very important role in mitigating the impact of natural disasters but unsustainable socio-economic development has contributed to their further deterioration.
