Markets down as foreign investors sell more shares

Foreigninvestors remained net sellers. They sold a total of more than fourmillion shares, worth 112 billion VND (5.3 million USD), an increase of7.02 percent in Hanoi over the last trading session and 1.02 percent inHo Chi Minh City.

Foreign investors were most active on thesouthern market. They sold more than 4.3 million shares, an increase of30.37 percent, and reached a total value of 115 billion VND (5.48million USD), an increase of 10.77 percent.

Foreign investorswere net buyers on the northern market, as well. However, their totaltrading volume and trading value decreased by 38.7 and 59.5 percent to282,660 shares and 2.9 billion VND (138,000 USD), respectively.

Overall, both markets traded a total volume of 137 million shares and saw a total of 2.36 trillion VND (112 million USD).

Onthe Hochiminh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index rapidly dropped by 0.93percent to 588.44 points. The total market turnover was 1.86 trillionVND (88.8 million USD), with a volume of nearly 98.8 million shares. Themarket declined, resulting in 177 stocks advancing, 52 declining and 60stayed unchanged.

The VN30 Index, which tracks the 30 largeststocks in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, declined 0.3 percent to620.88 points and saw a declining performance, in which losing stocksoutnumbered advancing ones by 24 to 2 and four remained unchanged.

Thesouthern market also saw declines on both mid-cap and small-cap stockgroups, which also drove the market down. They declined by 0.77 and 1.32percent to 657.48 and 694.59 points, respectively.

On the HanoiStock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell by 1.03 percent to 85.9 points. Themarket saw a drop in liquidity to 494.6 billion VND (23.5 million USD)and in trading volume to about 38 million shares.

Sai Gon-Ha NoiCommercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was the most active code on thenorthern bourse, with total trading volume of 167,300 shares worth 1.48billion VND (70,500 USD).

The HNX30, comprising the northernbourse's 30 largest stocks, dropped 1.82 percent to 165.41 points. TheHNX30 also saw decreases in its activity to nearly 273 billion VND (13million USD) in trading value and more 18.3 million shares in tradingvolume.-VNA
