Martyrs’ memorial inaugurated in Truong Sa

The Navy and Binh Phuoc province People’s Committee held a ceremony in Khanh Hoa province on June 28 to inaugurate a memorial to people who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of the nation’s seas and islands.

The 670 m2 memorial, which includes a 12.85m-high main statue, was built in Khanh Hoa province’s island district of Truong Sa at a cost of nearly 8.5 billion VND (447,000 USD) and funded by the Rang Dong Trade and Service Co. in Binh Phuoc province. Work on the memorial began in November 2009.

This is a historical and spiritual work that represents a nation’s gratitude to its heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence.

On the occasion, a delegation from the Navy and Binh Phuoc province met the troops and people in Truong Sa island district and presented gifts to army units stationed on the archipelago.

Earlier, the southern province of Binh Phuoc donated over 2 billion VND to Truong Sa island district to build a solid waste treatment plant./.
