Master plan for southern central coastal region approved

Thetarget is included in a master plan till 2025 approved on Feb. 2 by thePrime Minister for the South Phu Yen- North Khanh Hoa region, whichcovers 351, 500 ha of Phu Yen’s three southern districts of Song Hinh,Dong Hoa, Tay Hoa and two northern districts of Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa inKhanh Hoa province.

The region is the gateway tothe southern central coastal and central highland regions, be itlandway, waterway or airway. It has high potential for sea-basedeconomic development.

Under the plan, large- scaletrade and service centres will be built in South Phu Yen and Van Phongeconomic zones while sub- regional urban areas such as Ninh Hoa, NinhSim and Hai Rieng become holesale centres.

The region’s population is expected to reach 715- 725 thousand people by 2015, and about 840 thousand by 2025.

A general hospital with capacity of 900 beds along with otherspecialized ones will be built in South Phu Yen 1 economic zones.
Besides, South Phu Yen waterworks with capacity of 125,000 cu.mper day will be constructed by 2015 to serve the South Phu Yen economiczone./.
