Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son has highlighted the role of media agencies at home and abroad in improving the Vietnamese language proficiency among overseas Vietnamese (OVs), thus keeping the language’s characteristics.
Addressing a seminar on the issue held in Hanoi on October 22, Son said these agencies also contribute to maintaining the Vietnamese cultural identities and promoting the country’s image among OVs and through them to foreign friends.
Participants at the seminar, the second of its kind hosted by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, talked about the important role of media in building multimedia communication programmes which support the teaching of the Vietnamese language for OVs.
