Medical specialists and doctors from Laos , Cambodia , Thailand , the US and Vietnam are gathering in Hanoi to discuss measures to prevent and control infectious diseases in the countries in the lower Mekong River basin.
When addressing the two-day conference, Deputy Health Minister Trinh Quan Huan said that infectious diseases have a great impact on people’s lives and that a number of diseases, such as cholera, which had earlier been brought under control in many countries across the region, now have recurred.
