Mekong Delta looks to boost international integration

Challenges facing Mekong Delta provinces and cities in international integration were the focus of a two day conference held in An Giang province in early April.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and An Giang provincial People’s Committee with support from Germany’s Hanns Seidel Institute, the event attracted representatives from 12 regional provinces and cities.
 
Participants were updated on the world situation and issues Vietnam is facing during negotiations for free trade agreements (FTA).

Officials from the Foreign Ministry also reported on the ASEAN Community which is set to be established at the end of this year and East Sea-related issues.

A report by An Giang province highlighted the locality’s advantages and difficulties in the international integration process, noting that the province is working to restructuring agricultural production to bring into play the local strength in economic integration.

Tien Giang province proposed enhancing regional linkage as one of solutions to improve Mekong Delta’s competitive capacity in economic integration.-VNA
