This year’s flooding season is forecast to arrive earlier and rise higher in the Mekong Delta than in previous years. During these days, the Thom Rom net weaving trade village in Can Tho city is busy with trading households working night and day to serve fishing demand.

Peak season for net trading ranges from the seventh and tenth month of the lunar calendar. Currently, many units have to hire additional workers to work around the clock to serve high demand. However, despite the increase in demand, prices for nets are still stable.

In recent years, the village’s products have been consumed year–round. Currently, the products are present in all western provinces and are exported to Cambodia .

Thom Rom’s turnover is estimated to reach 1.94 million USD a year, helping ensure the traditional craft village’s sustainable development.-VNA
