Victory on the Urn Field-Xieng Khouang Battlefield was a vivid manifestation of the special solidarity and fighting alliance between Vietnam and Laos , said a senior Vietnamese official.

To Huy Rua, head of the steering board for the project on compilation of the history of Vietnam-Laos special ties, reviewed the two-day seminar entitled, “The Vietnam-Laos fighting alliance defeats the US Imperialists’ Kou Kiet Operation on the Urn Field-Xieng Khouang Battlefield”, that ended in Xieng Khouang on September 14.

Rua, who is also a Politburo member, Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretary and Head of the CPVCC Commission for Education and Training, said the seminar presented about 30 reports, clarifying fundamental issues on the strategic position of the Urn Field in the Lao revolutionary history and consensus on the strategy of both peoples to fight against the US on the battlefield.

The reports also analysed the leadership role of the Party for each battlefield in the Indochinese countries, including Laos, he said.

With opportunities and challenges at present, Vietnam and Laos have always cooperated to strengthen the traditional friendship and special solidarity, considering it to be a rule of development, and one of the fundamental elements for the victory of national construction and defence of each country, as well as a valuable cultural tradition of the two nations that needed to be respected by younger generations, he said.

He said believed the seminar would make contribution to further enhancing the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Within the seminar’s framework, participants paid a field trip to the old battlefield./.
