Thanh, a big name in Vietnamese gymnastics, received an average of 15.013 points after two attempts in the final, pushing him into top place.
Thanh's teammate Hoang Cuong also finished on the podium, receiving 14.550 points to share third place with Tomi Tuuha of Finland . The silver medal went to Pavel Pulauski of Belarus.
With a bronze medal going to Phan Thi Ha Thanh in the women's vault, Vietnam wrapped up the tournament on September 15 with one gold medal and two bronze medals.-VNA
