General Secretary of the Mexican Labour Party Alberto Anaya has called for expansion of the acupuncture network, especially for drug detoxification and treatment of disabled children under a project of cooperation with Vietnam.

Anaya, who is also a Senator, visited Vietnamese acupuncturists on an international mission in Monterrey city, Nuevo Leon State on the occasion of the Vietnam Physicians’ Day (February 27).

He said cooperation in healthcare should be accelerated as practical outgrowth of Mexico-Vietnam relations.

Anaya also asked the Vietnamese physicians to convey his best regards to Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu, who laid the foundation for the joint Vietnam-Mexico acupuncture project 10 years ago, and the leadership of the Vietnam Central Acupuncture Hospital , which plays a key role in the project.

Vietnam has established three acupuncture centres in Mexico and sent almost 100 professors, physicians and interpreters there to cover both medical treatment and personnel training./.
